UFO- 2009 Journal

I started this 2009 Journal at the 3rd Escape2Create retreat, but life got hectic, crazy, stressy and i didn't get around to completing it.....and it has been sitting in my pile of "stuff" on my scrap desk ever since. Thankfully i had popped hand-written notes in each month as a reminder to what happened each month...

This week after my nights i got tidying up my desk and decided to get to this un -finished- object!!! And here is a few pages of it to share:

After much mucking around with this blogger, hopefully when i press publish....all will come out well!! It gives me total brain stress sometimes!!! gggrrrr!!!

But there it is, and UFO complete!! Do you have any scrap UFO's sitting on your desk??

Hope you are having a nice week, finding a nice warm place to be, maybe indoors by a fire??!!

Loving this photo, loving this boy!! and this page came together with inspiration from Studio Polka. I like this girls idea of punched out shapes and joining them together with stitching...similar to the paper garlands that i have also seen about....oooh i love them too.

Supplies used here are: Papers - MME and American Crafts (Chap), Smash tapes & clip, Thickers- alphas, Stamp -Heidi Swapp, Chic tags- button, Studio Calico-veneer shapes.

Hope you having a great week,

Sue xx

Products used here: Patterned papers - MME 'On the bright side' range, American crafts and Echo Park. Stamped stars- Heidi Swapp, Alphas - Thickers, October afternoon and Lily Bee. Chipboard Element - MME, button - g.g & loui and washi tape.

Hope you all having a good Saturday,

Retreat layouts cont...

Finally i have got around to posting my last two layouts from our retreat to share with you.

Show Art: this one was inspired by Kim Jeffress with the glassine bag with pp sprinkles enclosed in it. I love this piece of artwork that Jacob gave me.

Little Happy Chap: grandson no.6 is such a dear little fella and so happy.

Canvas from Kate Mason's class:  i loved doing this class, reminded me of the decoupage days, and paper mache stuck on balloons etc... this was so much fun!! And a beautiful teacher she was, so clever!! Love her work!
xx

Layouts from E2C

Here's a couple layouts from the Escape2Create weekend:

RIDE
I have been inspired by Lisa Truesdell's work alot lately, usage of inks, punches, washi tape, stamping and layers.
Our Cheeky Boys:
And also a little bit of AllisonWaken with layers, stitching, bits n bobs and some flags.
These two layouts are from the Mardi Winen class that was held on Saturday. I have loved this girls style for some time and it was great to do one of her classes!
Celebrate the Moments:
Blowing bubbles and Kick:
I omitted some of the flowery papers to keep with the boyish theme of the photo.
I am loving reflecting back over the weekend and the pages that i have done....wish to have some spare moments to scrap again soon!!

Escape2create weekend

This year was No.5 for the E2C retreat that i help out with, alongside Amanda Hall & Meredith Treloar, and this year was another FANTABULOUS weekend. It is so exciting, thrilling, amazing (and exhausting) all put in together to see so many scrappers from across Eyre Penninsula and further across SA, and even some visitors from WA and Sydney to come and enjoy our little retreat.

We had 3 SA teachers come this year, to go along with the 'Homegrown Mojo' theme. We had Kate Mason, Mardi Winen and Nat May who were all very inspiring with their projects that they taught....just amazing!!and it was sooo good to finally meet these girls who i have admired their work for awhile....they are so lovely!
Here's a few pics of the shed prior to the weekend commencing.

The hanging pompoms and baskets full of apples - as table decorations:

I just had to add this next picture.....can you see the map of SA in the background?? or is it my imagination?? The light coming in the rear door sort of looks like SA to me. Some tricky photography (flukey!!) to say the least, but quite apt for our weekend theme!

And our customary glass of Moet just before the guests all start coming thru the door:

I managed to get a few layouts completed over the weekend, and i will share them here over the next week. All in all it was a very successful weekend, i loved every moment of it and was quite sad when it all came to an end on Sunday, and we had to say our good-byes to everyone.

It was a great weekend!!

Birthday boys & Easter bunnies...

This Easter weekend was one filled with birthdays, family gatherings and cousins having fun together. Lots of cakes and chocolates!!

First, it was our own boy's 28th Birthday, and his little boys loved to share a cake with their Dad...Eli sat beside Daniel and sang "Happy Birthday" all on his own.....and it was soooo cute!

Then on Easter Sunday was little Mace's 3rd birthday....He had a fun day with his cousins all around, lots of parcels, a cool rocket cake.... as well as Easter bunny visiting!

And it was this little guys first Easter..... he sure loved the taste of his first chocolate - he cried when we had to take it away too!!

Some fun times by the water with the cousins:

And a touch of fishing with these two big boys:

All in all a great weekend.....no... a fantastic weekend!!

Hope you had a weekend full of good times and memories!

Birthday time..

For some people Birthdays are a reminder of how old they are getting and shy away from them, but i like to think that it is nice to recognise the day....be thankful that we are, i am still here to have yet another birthday.

Well, this year for me is a biggie....the big 50....omg,how did i get here this quick?? I remember my parents having their 50th birthdays and it seems like only yesterday. Time is passing so quickly. I didn't need a big 'do', i just wanted something with family & few friends to have a quiet drink to celebrate. So my beautiful daughter got to and organised everything!! We had a BBQ tea and drinks in our pergola, she decorated it with a banner she made (now i wonder how come she knew i liked banners!!) and balloons.....did all the cooking.....and what a lovely night i had!! Thank-you Rachie!xx

So.....today is the day!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ME!!! Hopefully i am here for a few more yet!!

A couple quick photos from the night: (thanks to our wonderful son-in-law who took these for me!!)

A quiet wine with my beautiful girl and wonderful party organiser!!
And one with Mum, they came from Adelaide for the weekend, i am very lucky to have both my parents still and it was lovely to see them.

Thanks to those who helped me celebrate and may the good Lord allow us to celebrate many more together......now i am in my 51st year of life!!

Christmas mini album updates..

Yesterday i managed to get to my scrap mess and complete a few more pages to my 14 days to Christmas mini album....and to be honest i am amazed at how i am finishing them so quickly...not my usual procrastinating over things!! (which is a good thing!!)

Here's Day 11 Class parties...

Day 10 and 9  Garden Reno and sending out mail.....

Day 8 and 7 Street Party night and Rachie's birthday...

Day 6 and 5  Family arriving and Christmas tree lights...

Not many days left now to scrap and the album will be complete!! With the wind blowing a stiff easterly it may be too breezy for a day at the beach, i may just get another chance to do the last few pages today!!

Hope you are having some nice summery days!!

xxSue

14 days till Christmas album

I decided to record what happens around the Parsons house in the lead up to Christmas. So i began with just taking photos and work on the album during the summer holidays. So i have begun. Here is the cover and the first few pages....progress is slow and steady due to work and having the grandies over each day this week.....and my attention is needed outdoors for hits of cricket or throws of the ball to practise catching!

here is a sneaky peak of my first few pages...

 Day 14
Day 13 & 12

a few close-ups of some of the little details...
Hope you are having fun thru your summer holidays and capturing some great photos to scrap!! or getting a chance to do some scrapping!!
